Yoga from the beginning

Practicing yoga is great and versatile form of exercise. Yoga does a lot more than helping you to achieve a calm mind and lowering anxiety and stress levels; it also may help you lose excess pounds and get into shape. We want to share with you the specific asanas or body positions you can do to maximise the effect of getting your heart pumping while building and toning muscles. If you are new to yoga, or just want to get started with yoga for weight loss, these poses can be done by beginners too. It’s ideal to consider holding those postures for as long as you can, preferably from 15 to 20 seconds if you are new to them, then gradually increasing up to a minute when you can. Where appropriate, perform one side and repeat it on the other side. Let’s get started, here’s yoga from the beginning:

Trikonasana is an asana that can strengthen your abs as the twisting motion enhances digestion to reduce the belly’s fat deposits. It’s also an essential yoga for weight loss as it engages the muscles in the arms and legs, so you can build and strengthen your muscles, which is necessary for burning fat.

It may seem simple, but holding this position is a great way to build core strength. You should be able to feel the tension in your abs within a few seconds of dropping into a plank position. Be sure to keep your hips low and bring all of your focus to your core.

Also known as Virabhadrasana B, this asana tones the muscles in the shoulders and thighs. Get the most from this yoga for weight loss position by bending the front knee, so the thigh is parallel to the floor. Hold it for as long as you can to achieve tighter quads. Don’t forget to breathe and relax your mind!

Virabhadrasana C is an asana that can tone your buttocks and strengthen your arms, legs, and back. Contract the abs as you hold the position so it can also work to strengthen and flatten the belly while improving your balance.
