1. Increase your cardio

Overall weight loss will have a slimming effect on your face. To get started, you need to consider adding more physical activity to your daily routine. Brisk walking, running or jogging, aerobics training, resistance training, and swimming are some examples of cardio exercises you can do to increase your heart rate and effectively burn fat and calories. Combining aerobics and resistance training may be more helpful with reducing your weight and face fat in general. When you start losing weight, other people may initially notice through your face, as it is typically among the first areas to slim down (and also what we look at the most).

2. Minimise bloating 

Consuming high-sodium foods can cause dehydration and prompt your body to retain water. This can result in water retention in your face, making you look puffy and bloated. Keep in mind that consuming these foods could also lead to weight gain. They also contain empty calories, which provides no nutritional value to you. Processed foods are the biggest salt villains. If you are an avid snacker, try switching to healthier options such as mixed nuts, whole wheat pretzels and fruit. Drinking plenty of water can also help reduce bloating and excess water weight, aim to drink about 8 glasses of water a day to ensure you are staying hydrated.

3. Reduce alcohol consumption and lose face fat 

Another tip on how to lose face fat includes cutting down on alcohol. Reducing your alcohol consumption will in turn improve your overall health. According to the NHS, the average wine drinker in England takes in around 2000kcal from alcohol every month. Drinking 5 pints of lager a week adds up to 44,200kcal over a year, which is equivalent to eating 221 doughnuts. Cutting back on the alcohol will help reduce face fat and improve your general health. Additionally, alcohol can also cause water retention in your face, which can lead to your face appearing swelled and puffy. If you have been drinking, you should rehydrate yourself as soon as possible with water to reduce the bloating.

4. Practice healthy habits

Keeping yourself hydrated, improving your diet and getting more sleep are all key factors in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These may be simple actions to becoming healthier but they are also helpful in reducing face fat (as well as overall body fat) and keeping your weight in check.

You can improve your diet by consuming less refined, processed foods and by eating cleaner and consuming more fruit, veg and protein. You do not need to cut out carbohydrates to achieve weight loss. Simply consuming slow-releasing carbs such as oats, wholegrain bread, sweet potato and brown rice are a great way to keep your energy levels high and keeping you feeling fuller for longer.

If you struggle to get a good sleep at night, try winding down by creating a night time routine. This can include a bath or shower, your skin care routine, a camomile tea and some bed time reading. This will help your body unwind, relax and prepare for sleep. Many of us struggle to sleep due to staying on our phones until far too late. Try putting your phone down at a set time each evening to help you fall asleep.
