6 Reasons To Use a Cross-Trainer

Have you noticed how many X-trainers are at the gym? Have you ever tried one?

After all, there are a huge number of hardcore fitness enthusiasts who probably consider X-training to be somewhat inferior to standard weight training or cardio.

But in reality, X-trainers can actually be more difficult and more effective, offering a complete body workout compared to other cardio training sessions. This is why our elliptical trainer Auro classes are one of our top classes, behind running.

Here are six reasons why we are the number one fan of the X-trainer, and why you should be too.


#1 Low impact

The X-trainer puts less stress on your joints – it’s as simple as that! Unlike running, your knees take much less of a beating on the machine, but you can still get as hard a workout as with a treadmill session. When your feet hit the ground, your body jolts. This affects not only the joints in your legs but also your lower back.

With a X-trainer, your feet never leave the pedals. Problem solved.

 

#2 Full body burn

What makes a X-trainer so exceptional is the joint upper and lower body workout. On a X-trainer that includes arm motion, a shoulder, chest, biceps and triceps workout can be incorporated simultaneous to a lower body cardiovascular workout. In addition, the upright posture on the machine will involve your core more.

You need to be aware of your form though. Don’t rest on the handlebars for support, or only go through the motions with them. This will ensure that you get good upper body work, as well as that lower body burn.

 

#3 Hustle for that muscle

X-trainer works muscle groups that other cardio classes  just don’t do. Your quadricep/hamstring coordination is significantly worked, so if you have weak quads, an X-trainer can help your legs greatly.

Similarly, if you want to build your glutes, or improve your hip muscles, X-trainer workouts are fantastic for working these groups without taxing your hamstrings too much.

 

#4 Calorie burner

#5 Work out at home

X-trainer machines are much smaller, and more lightweight than treadmills. As such, you can even train from the comfort of your own home – Sweatflix anyone?
